How to Make a Mugen Stage in Photoshop

    • 1). Open Photoshop. Next, click file, then new. The acceptable resolutions for backgrounds are: 320x240, 640x480, 1280x720 and 1920x1080. Select a size in which your copy of Mugen will run smoothly. Only high end computers will run at 1920x1080. Your character sprites will appropriately match these sizes.

    • 2). Create a stage, platform or anything else you would like inside the blank file. If you are going to have a stage or platform for them to fight on, have it bleed off the bottom of the image to make the player feel like they are apart of the action. However, a platform isn't necessary.

    • 3). Save your image by clicking "File," then "Save." Save it to the Mugen background folder. Go to the backgrounds folder inside your Mugen folder. Right mouse click on "Open" and select "New Folder." Rename the new folder to "Stage1.sff." Have the file redirect to the image by putting the file name and "sprite 0,0" beside it.
