How to Make a Roll-in in Snowboarding

    • 1). Find a small hill to practice on while you learn the basics. Make sure you are in an relatively uncrowded area so you have plenty of room to move. The roll in involves switching your weight around to the front of the board and can take a few tries to do properly.

    • 2). Snowboard straight downhill and get some speed. Lean forward on your front leg and press hard into the nose of the board. With all your weight on the front of the board, spin your shoulders and hips around while bringing your back leg to the front. Be sure to lead with your shoulders.

    • 3). Practice this spin several times. If your board pops up into the air rather than staying on the ground, make sure you are keeping your weight pressed into your front leg. Slow the movement down so that you feel the transfer of weight and control the spin.

    • 4). Increase your speed gradually as your control increases until you are doing the roll in at the speed you desire. Continue going downhill and switching from one side to the other.
