An off-day at work, you know how it is.
Nothing is going as it should, you needto finish about two thousand projects by yesterday, your stress-levels are going through the roof and all of your colleagues are getting on your nerves.
Nothing to worry about! But when those days are becoming more frequent or even the standard, something's wrong.
How to make work more fun? Plan and think ahead This should speak for itself, but planning your work is primordial.
Some people thrive under pressure but if you are not one of those lucky individuals, you might want to make sure you finish a project ahead of the final deadline.
Something unexpected always pops up.
Bond with your colleagues No need to go into specifics about your disastrous love life.
But going for a drink after work with some co-workers definitely boosts the atmosphere at work.
Just don't go overboard with the drinking to prevent embarrassing situations.
Stay polite Making enemies at work is always a bad idea.
So even if you disagree on something, or your co-worker has made a mistake, the key is to stay polite.
This doesn't mean you can't have a backbone, just be diplomatic.
Take a break If your work isn't going as planned and you have the feeling you're stuck, go and do something else for a couple of minutes.
Get some fresh air, go for a quick stroll, make a joke.
Those two minutes won't keep your project from getting finished, but sometimes that's all it takes to catch a second breath and get back into the zone.
Communicate If something about your job is really bothering you, fretting and wallowing in self pity most definitely won't help.
But maybe talking to your boss can.
He might not be able to set everything straight immediately, but at least he will know something is wrong, and he will hear it from you personally rather than through co-workers.
Be realistic Remember, no job in the world is great every single day.
At the end of the day, go and do something you really enjoy, forget about your bad day and take a fresh start in the morning.
This being said, if you feel like you've had a continuous off-day since 2009, maybe it's time you make a decision and look for a new challenge.
There are plenty of jobs out there.
Don't let it get to you too much!
